FALL - A film Poem sampler
Film Art Literature Lesson is a Glasgow University initiative led by poet and lecturer Colin Herd and Beaconsfield associate, artist and poet, Tamsyn Challenger in collaboration with Beaconsfield Gallery, Vauxhall.
FALL is an exploration of experimental film and text that announced the start of a new collaboration between Beaconsfield and Glasgow University’s Creative Writing course.
FALL embraced the rough-hewn,DIY, low-fi alongside digital cut-glass aesthetics.
In October 2024 we sent out a short submission call, looking for original, short film poems that embraced the radical possibilities of immediacy and intimacy that digital cameras offer, as well as other accessible film editing processes and programmes. By return we received an overwhelming number of subs that the panel chose twenty films from. The panel consisted of Challenger, Herd, Malaika Bova, David Crawforth and Naomi Siderfin.
Selected film poems were then screened at Beaconsfield London on 12 December and at the Andrew Stewart Cinema, Glasgow University on 13 December 2024 – the first in a series of events observing, researching and opening up established contours and dynamics between visual art and text.
